Peel too strong? Here is how to dilute your TCA Peel...

If you peel is too strong or you want a milder version of the peel then diluting it would be the best option.

Some of the reasons may be due to wanting a decreased downtime if you are working/schooling, doing it in regular sessions will provide you with the same benefit just over a longer period. You may find that the peel is uncomfortable to use for your skin type and may want to make it milder for you.

 Liquids to dilute with?

For a TCA dilution distilled/de-ionized water can be used. If you are unable to obtain either of these you can use bottled water.

 How to dilute?

 Equipment:

  1. A glass container
  2. Gloves and goggles for safety
  3. Measuring utensils…
  4. A new bottle for storage if you wont be using the entire diluted quantity

Diluting a 30% TCA acid peel to make a 15%

A part could be any form of measurement, it could be a dropper full, 1ml etc. You could buy a disposable syringe from the drug store and use this for more precise measurement, a 5ml syringe would be best to use, this can be rinsed or soaked in a water until next use.

+ Take 1 part of the TCA peel and place in container

+ Take 1 part dilution liquid (water) and place in same container

+ Mix or swirl while in container for a few seconds

+ Use the new percentage or store it in another container for next use.

+ Thoroughly rinse and then wash the equipment

More options for diluting, concept can be used for other TCA %

  • 1 part TCA 30% + 2 parts water = 10%
  • 1 part TCA 30% + 1 part water = 15%
  • 2 parts TCA 30% + 1 part water = 20%
  • 5 parts TCA 30% + 1 part water = 25%
  •

There you go, a very easy way to make sure you can have a pleasant peeling experience
